Oklahoma to allow Bear Hunt
Oklahoma Bear Hunting
Oklahoma Sportsmen will soon be able to harvest Black Bear. The Oklahoma Legislative body has passed laws allowing a formal hunting season for Black Bear.
The black bear population is estimated to be around 800 in the state, concentrated in the three, southeastern-most counties (Leflore, Pushmataha, and McCurtain counties)
The annual harvest would be limited to 20 Bears- and the law would limit hunting to these three counties.
The Bears are multiplying by 12% per year according to the State's wildlife dept. They have migrated into Oklahoma's Quachita National Forest, from the Arkansas side of the Forest.
