Poteau holds their annual Balloon Festival each October. Large crowds assemble to watch the hot air balloons soar over Poteau. The event takes place on the grounds of the airport. There are lots of activities for the kids such as pony rides, and games. The adults enjoy local bands that take turns on the main stage. This year the 'Human Cannonball' - Ed Smith soared over the ferris wheel in a spectacular stunt.
