Heavener Runestone State Park
Runestone State Park offers visitors a scenic 'fifty-mile view' of the Ouachita and Winding Stair Mountains to the south and Poteau and Cavanal Hill to the North.
It is an ideal spot for a Sunday picnic, or a hike to see the famous Runes carved into the sandstone at the bottom of a deep ravine. More adventurous types can participate in extreme sports such as paragliding.
